Bearcats Bring it Home

EDIT: The full slideshow can now be found on The News Record site here.

Long story short: this has been my baby for the past week. Went and had a great time with the UC dance and cheer teams, and I'm proud to be a Bearcat: UC, point wise, was the highest scoring school in the nation with 1st in Hip-hop, 4th in Jazz and 8th in Cheer.

I've taken the slideshow down from this site as it isn't properly formatted for the width of my blog. Instead I've posted my favorite images from the whole set (I took only 8 shy of 5000 images over the two weeks I was involved with this).

Disney World Here I Come...

This week I'm headed to Orlando, FL for 4 days to cover the *takes deep breath* "United Cheerleading Association/United Dance Association College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship" at Disney World. Should be good fun: 4 days in the Magic Kingdom with a bus full of dancers and cheerleaders.

The reporter assigned to the event is Reggie Philpott, who (I'm pretty sure) is The News Record's Chief Reporter. Some of his articles can be read at http://tinyurl.com/7rpqf4

I'm only really worried that something will go horrifically wrong; I'll have exactly 4:30 to capture everything I need.

I've already started capturing images of practices, and have decided that the subject for my quarter long project in Adv. Photojournalism will be the cheer squad.

Finally found a copy of Play Magazine...

I finally found a copy of The New York Times' Play Magazine, of which I was a location scout for the cover shoot of Chad 'Ocho Cinco' Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals this summer. This edition ran on 9/14/08.

Play Magazine is a quarterly publication of The New York Times; "A magazine that simultaneuosly celebrates how sports are played today while presenting the big, rich human stories that emerge from the world of sports..." - The New York Times' self description.

More information about the publication is at http://www.nytimes.com/sports/play/index.htm
